I continued to explore the use of ambiguous organic shapes and the change of perception when images are viewed at different rotations. Working with higher resolution computer-based images allows the possibility of maintaining a constant aspect ratio if an image is to be rotated; in other words, single images can be stretched when rotated to keep all the versions in, say, a landscape format. An example of this is the far right hand image above, which is shown in all four rotations as the image is clicked. The originals are intended to be printed up to 24" x 18" (100 dpi). At this resolution, pixels are visible at very close range, much as brushstokes and other artefacts are visible in traditional media. |
