These four images were made without reference to each other. Each stands alone, yet I find that the diversity and comparison illustrates some of the defining qualities I see as visual art. A lengthy discourse will ensue. 'as I remember it' - Tends towards "illustrating" my feelings, taboo I'm sure - works for me. 'Out-take_Water' - As it says, an out-take from another work. This illustrates to me that despite the ease of composition, there is quite a lot to be gained from understanding it 'Mainsprit' - A definite "looks like" abstract, rapidly accomplished. The way we associate colours and shapes with real world representation is central. 'Emerging Folklore' - A much more concentrated work developed by combining and manipulating several "seed" images. As in what one chooses to photograph, the infinite possibilities in creating any work are made more obvious by the use of digital technology. |
